Anthony L Walker
Anthony’s heritage comes from the Yiman and Gurreng Gurreng Language groups in Queensland.
Originally taught by his grandfather his work portrays stories passed on expressed in a contemporary context.
Painting often his totem animals the Turtle and Goanna, Anthony’s use of colour and rhythm charge his work with an abundance of energy and expression.
Anthony is also an accomplished Didjeridoo player and maker taught by Didjeridoo master “Djalu”.
His aspirations as an Indigenous artist are to pass on his culture to all who enjoy his art.
Since pursuing his art full time Anthony has acheived much success and won awards including:
* Gold Coast Indigenous Art & Design award 2D 2008
* NSW Marine Arts prize, winner
* National Parks Aboriginal art award 2005, winner
* Parliament of NSW Indigenous Art Award, Finalist, 2005 & 2006
